Grand Teton und Yellowstone Nationalpark

Wow! Grand Teton ist einfach ein wunderschöner Nationalpark! Die Bergkette an der Ostseite des NPs ist unglaublich! Es gibt viele verschiedene Wanderwege, aber wir haben nur einen gemacht. Dazu mussten wir zuerst einen „Bären-Spray“ kaufen…! Die Ranger empfehlen dies in dieser Region für die Sicherheit. Wir mussten es zum Glück nicht benutzen und haben trotzdem Bären (einen Grizzly und zwei Schwarzbären) gesehen. Zudem sieht man überall im Park Bisons, ein echtes Erlebnis! Ein Moose (grosser Elch) haben wir auf unserer Wanderung am Lake Jenny gesehen. Sehr schön war auch die Übernachtung in einer Cabin/Lodge direkt am See!

Nach dem Grand Teton NP fuhren wir Richtung Norden und kamen im Winter an. Im Yellowstone NP gab es z.T. noch reichlich Schnee! In diesem Park blieben wir fast eine Woche, genossen die Zeit in der (speziellen) Natur und relaxten nach den Tagesausflügen jeweils in den Campings. Der Yellowstone NP bringt immer wieder eine heisse Wolke hervor. Dies, weil hier 100 von Geysirs hervortreten. Zudem hat es Fumarole, Hot Spots etc. Das ganze Gebiet ist eine Caldera, dessen Vulkan vor mehreren Tausend Jahren ausgebrochen ist. Die Infos kriegt man entweder in den Visitorcenters, sehr informativ, oder direkt vor Ort in Form von Tafeln oder Broschüren. Da es erst Mai ist hatten wir Glück und es waren noch nicht so viele Touristen unterwegs. Ist ja auch logisch, im Sommer ist es deutlich wärmer. In einer Nacht war es so kalt, dass die Wassertropfen auf dem Zelt gefroren sind! Aber wir hatten in unseren Schlafsäcken zum Glück genug warm. Auf einem Zeltplatz hatten wir zudem am Morgen Besuch von Bisons, welche friedlich neben den Zelten grasten. Es ist aber ratsam genug Abstand von den Tieren zu halten. Vom Auto aus konnten wir einen jungen Schwarzbär beobachten und immer wieder sieht man Elche. Im Lamartal konnten wir noch weitere Tiere beobachten; wir sahen einen Wolf sowie ein Pronghorn. Das Pronghorn ist mit 60 Meilen/h das schnellste Tier Nordamerikas!

Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park

Wow! Grand Teton is just a beautiful national park! The mountain range on the east side of the NP is incredible! There are many different paths, but we have made only one. For this we first had to buy a "bear spray" ...! The rangers recommend that in this region for security. Luckily we hadn’t to use it, but we saw bears (a grizzly and two black bears). In addition, one sees everywhere in the park bison, a real experience! A Moose we saw on our hike at Jenny Lake. Also very nice was the night in a cabin / lodge right on the lake!

After the Grand Teton National Park, we headed north and arrived in the winter. In Yellowstone, there was still plenty of snow! In this park we stayed almost a week, the time consumed in the (special) nature and relaxing after the daily trips in each of the campsite. The Yellowstone National Park always brings out a hot cloud. This is because in this area exists geysers. It also has fumaroles, hot spots, etc. The whole area is a caldera, the volcano has broken out several thousand years ago. Information you get into either the visitor center, very informative, or locally in the form of bars or brochures. Since it is only May, we were lucky there were not many tourists. It really is logical, it is much warmer in the summer. One night it was so cold that the water droplets are frozen on the tent! But we were lucky enough in our sleeping bags that were very warm. On the campground we also had the morning visit of bison, which grazed peacefully near the tents. However, it is advisable to keep a safe distance from the animals to. From the car we saw once a young black bear and also elks. In the Lamarvalley we were able to observe other animals, we saw a wolf and a Pronghorn. The Pronghorn is with 60 miles / h, the fastest animal in North America!
